It’s not actually clear the actors weren’t provided with food, I don’t think. “We didn’t have our own food…” reads to me like there was probably a spread for all of them?

A $90 million budget, with a $40 million for marketing, is a huge amount of money to spend on a musical The Color Purple remake that does not have Spielberg behind the camera or someone like Oprah in front of it. Barbie’s not a meaningful comparison here. It’s also puzzling how the author says that the movie has done “…
I think Sydney Sweeny said something similar. Look if you want to show it off go for it, if you don’t then don’t.
The insane thing is that he simply should have taken a plea deal, laid low for a year, and it would have blown over. Thankfully though, he and his awful legal team decided to violently fight back as hard as possible, and in the process, completely exposed an unrepentant monster for what he is.
Not only are they adapting existing characters, character traits, and personalities, but there were several attempts at scripting this movie previously, all of which helped to inform the direction of the version that was ultimately filmed. This was a film built upon the creative work of a number of earlier versions,…
One of my everlasting 80's crushes. Caddyshack, Tron, and the CBS Indiana Jones ripoff show, Bring ‘Em Back Alive. I was always surprised that she didn’t have a bigger career being that she was stunning, intelligent, and had decent comedic timing but, when I think about it, none of the big-eyed, beautiful TV blondes…
it’s so funny how nebulous and manipulatable the charts are now that it’s not tied to physical sales in any way.
Still can hardly believe that’s Robert Downey Jr. in the header pic.
The movie is pretty good. It gets overwhelmed by the musical score, which is weird. The other thing is that no matter the “ick” factor re the couple in the movie- the real life story is SO MUCH WORSE. It almost seemed sanitized for public viewing. The real Mary Kay was undeniably a monster. He was a CHILD. She never…
Im starting to suspect that as a means of avoiding his extreme recognizability (see Sean Astin's career post-Samwise) Robert Downey Jr. plans on layering himself in makeup going forward in his career. And I am okay with this.
Honestly, I’d settle for 13 episode seasons at this point, because even those seem to be getting rarer, with a lot of series just doing ten or eight. But 13 has always felt like a nice, sweet spot. . Enough to where you really feel like you’re getting scope and breadth, but not too many that you feel like they’re…
Needs more weird fiction elements. That’s why everyone liked the Yellow King elements and then they couldn’t stick the landing. Oh, well.
This is an anthology show, so each season has as much hope as the last. Season 1 ended fine (listen, it’s a very chatty show) but I think they lost sight of genuinely exciting mysteries. I still cannot believe they didn’t decide to continue pulling the thread of the sprawling underground network hinted at in the Fukuna…
I’ve seen greenlit used in the production sense as well and it’s the word used by Martin in his blog. Maybe consider saving your complaints for more deserving targets?
I don’t know if I will be disappointed or not if it doesn’t tie into the first season (more than the 3rd season did, of course). Has quite a few connections. I wouldn’t mind them exploring that universe a bit more. Provided it is, of course, good. Six episodes seems somewhat short though.
The Patriot was the first move I thought of when I saw this. His scenes were great.
Not to mention Hamilton was fully supportive of the idea of America having a monarch, or enlightened despot. His economic policies were brilliant, but thank goodness cooler heads shut down his more extreme notions for the new nation.
I really liked White House Plumbers. As far as I’m concerned, it’s just about impossible to truly screw up a story about unlikable jerks unstoppably marching toward their well-deserved comeuppance, the same reason I name Saw X the best of the series and Blackberry the best of the new “product biopic” trend.
This made me cry. Not only were the Smothers Brothers extremely funny, they had principles and weren’t afraid to stand up for them. Dick wisely let his brother set the tone. Tom played stupid on screen but was a true genius behind the scenes.
South Korean ex-pats living in the USA have the most nuanced take on this, and if you want to see it, I recommend looking through the pop culture subreddits.
