Still doesn’t get her due.

I actually got a few details wrong. I had the planets orbiting the sun clockwise, but they go counterclockwise. So you are launching in the direction earth is traveling and catching up to Mars which is running away from you. That makes sense because Earth’s orbital velocity is 30 km/s and Mars is only 24 km/sec. So

Young me thought ST:TOS The Man Trap “salt monster” was pretty darn creepy.

Maiden was way more popular than Metallica in my neck of the woods. The fans of either were pretty cool though. Lotta bad teenage moustaches and jean jackets that vaguely smelled like hash.

I don’t remember Journey being much of a factor. Escape was only on our radar because of the Atari game. [Edit: Also it just

I thought the same so I did a little research. You probably know this, but you don’t fly in a straight line from Earth to Mars. You launch when Earth is a little ahead of Mars, but back, away from the direction of orbit, and sort of hit Mars as it is coming towards you.

yeah, Dear Billy was a hard act to follow, but the big fireworks factory finale was never gonna be able to match the emotional intensity that episode gave to Max’s character. everyone got at least one big beat in the finale which is all I really wanted to see

The politics still seems like they are really stretching. If He3 gives people cheap, clean, energy then they might feel a little sorry for the oil workers and coal miners, but a lot of people are just going to compare them to buggy whip makers. The Speaker threatening Ellen with that seems like a weak play, especially

I forget the line, but not only are the Sovs using US design, Margo knows it, which is an extra tell.

I’m guessing the lingering views of the Mars-94 nuclear engine assembly that Sylvie was recording will also be part of Margo’s undoing.

Giant nitpick. They do that cheat they often do in these space exploration shows where people video chat with family back home without any delay, despite them being millions of miles away, which, fine, okay maybe in the show’s universe they have some special technology using quantum entanglement that allows

Forget Darth Plagueis the Wise.

“sort of like your phone but not as fun”

I’m a high school teacher; I use film my visual lit class (none of the kids have ever seen this film). I’ve seen it dozens of times, yet I’ve never thought about the ending this way. It REALLY is a fascinating new way to look at a 20 year old film.

In the Spielberg canon, I place this a solid #5, right after the five-star classics (Jaws, Raiders, Schindler, and ET) but first among the four/four and a half tier (Jurassic, Ryan, CEOT3K, AI, and so on).

This is Jezebel’s MO and has been for a while. I think they ran out of money to hire anyone who isn’t totally clueless.

You should have written the article. You are 100% spot on. It’s like people have no idea how civics works.

Definitely not an unpopular opinion. It’s grotesque.

Unpopular (?) opinion. Covering such a somber topic in slideshow form to garner more clicks and ad revenue is pretty damn awful.

Let’s be a fair... to call Manchin a Democrat is a reach, at best.

It’s very weird to see Jezebel rewrite it’s attitude to the 2016 elections. Most of the writers have left now, but this site was decidedly anti Hillary Clinton.
