To be able to use Atmos you need to license it as well as the speakers and receiver to support it, yes. That’s not the really the point. The point is Sony lied about Dolbys tech to make theirs look better. That’s called FUD.

Just more FUD by Sony to try to direct attention away from the fact they don’t want to pay to license Dolby and have weaker hardware. I mean, it was a straight up lie, haha. Xbox Series X also has dedicated audio hardware for spatial audio AND Atmos support.

It’s also worth pointing out that there were TWO separate PS3 SKUs at launch, one at $499 and the other at $599. People always forget this.

You were making perfect sense, I just can’t be bothered with physical media on PC anymore...but I totally get why that is not a universal mindset. There are plenty of people in the world that don’t really have the option of downloading such large files, whether because of abysmally slow speeds or data caps.

Because its on Game Pass. To most people, I would think, given the option of $60 or whatever on Steam vs. $10 on GP, the majority are going to check it out on the thing that Microsoft is pushing HARD, all the while looking cool by plopping it on Steam as well.

Personally, I would much rather let that download in the background for an afternoon as opposed to having to get up and fiddle with discs and my drive TEN TIMES, but to each their own.

This is kinda devastating news for my hype for GTA VI. Lazlo was an important bit of the world that made it all feel absurd yet relatable in a weird way, Chatterbox is legit hilarious. Such a bummer.

I don’t disagree with anything you’ve said other than Remedy’s or 505's potential lack of knowledge about Microsoft and Sony’s respective hardware plans in terms of software compatibility. That has been known for about three years. Nothing speculative there.
