Depends on your work. I typically have to work with one document open for comparison, or perform calculations on a CAD drawing that get entered into a spreadsheet, so two monitors is a must.

This is a great tip, but it won't foil them all. There are also keypad overlay skimmers out there:
I know it's still in very preliminary phases yet, but I'd be curious what they plan to do about battery life for this... with how much location awareness, bluetooth and other technologies suck my smartphone's battery, I have a hard time seeing this project getting around those same issues.
I think I would have used a wood color and molding style that better matched the existing door frame.
There are free alternatives for Windows that are just as nice and have similar function. SpeQ is one. SpeedCrunch is another.
If you attached the panels to a eReader cover (especially a 'flip-open') cover, the panels could be exposed to sunlight while reading.
The Color Nook has adjustable brightness that can be set bright enough to read outside in daylight. And the size is much more comfortable for reading than an iPad. The Color Nook is about the size and weight of a standard hardcover book.

I'd like to see a comparison of this to Notepad++.
