Consequences. At some level it has to come down to establishing consequences for misbehavior. If people don’t face consequences for their words and actions, some of them will feel empowered to be utterly horrible shits to other people.

i can only assume the comment section to this article will be much dissembling and equivocating to minimize the results of the survey. us gamers seem incapable of acknowledging the baked-in toxicity of our community.

Rocket League does this.  Lets you know if your report got somebody canned.  Last night, had somebody just blurt out the N word.  I hope I get his notification tonight when I play.

Commenting for truth and to point out that when you dig into the stories of the “toughen up” crowd you often find a lot of projecting because they are trying to mitigate their own shitty behavior.

The report button is my favorite button. Getting that pop-up that they’ve taken action is so cathartic that it more than makes up for any shitty behavior I’ve been subjected to.

Because it doesn’t create a fun experience for anyone. I don’t want to micro-manage other people while i’m trying to play a game. It’s one of the main reasons why I don’t play online games anymore. 

Save for possibly The Mandalorian there don’t appear to be any ‘gotta have it’ options on there. I’m sure I’ll end up subscribing eventually but looks like it probably won’t be at launch.
