This “parents rights” movement is bullshit. Of course parents have the right to make decisions for minors, but these people seem to think that children are owned by their parents and have no human rights. 10/10 they think a fetus has rights independent of a pregnant woman’s, but don’t think a toddler has rights…

This isn’t even a vaccination issue, it’s a take your very sick toddler to the doctor issue. If they had vaccinated him, he probably wouldn’t have got sick, but it was not getting medical help that killed him. (To be clear, I agree: vaccines save lives.)

First of all, condolences. Call/ email anyway. At least let his office know you’re there. You can also call/email committee chairs and members who aren’t your rep. Do it more than once, so they know you’re engaged. At the very least, take up their time.

But you can do something to change it. You need to call your senator/ congress member/ representatives as often as NRA and tea party types do.
