Pretty much. In the 70s, breastfeeding was considered unhygienic, weird, gross and for dirty hippies. When my sister and I were born (‘76 and ‘78) the nurses assumed mom would use a bottle, and thought it was weird she wanted to breastfeed.

That was my reaction to being introduced to debate too, but I thought it quietly to myself and tried to humour the adult in charge with her strange ideas ;)
