I actually think Gone Home is liked so much because of its 90's nostalgia. Sure the game and story are good to, but anyone from their early 20's to early 40's will find tons of old 90's references through out the game, that pluck that nostalgia string pretty hard.

Gome Home is a bit overrated, but it's definitely a game, and an interesting experience.
