You’re right War. I guess I’m just Billy Mumphrey, a cockeyed optimist.
Truckers go through road side weigh stations and checks with relative frequency, and a battery swap may not require you to get out of your vehicle.
Thanks for the back of envelope math - interesting.
Yeah, I agree. I think the core calculus is something like bringing goods from point A to point B in the cheapest, fastest, and safest way possible.
Why do long haul truckers need energy density?
I agree, but I think it should be more like a Model X than a diesel locomotive. Why not battery swap as opposed to transporting a turbine battery charger around that you fill with gas?
Recharging via turbine engine doesn’t sound that effective or revolutionary. This would seem like a perfect candidate for battery swapping, which I believe Tesla demonstrated they could do a few years back in about a minute or so.
Good call. Good job BMW.
I wish they would ditch the ICE completely, and add a few kWh to the battery pack. Otherwise it lacks the simple beauty of an electric, and feels like a bit of a compromise.
Panamera killer.
How many sequels did The Predator have?
When your self-esteem is particularly low, do you look at car porn of cars you think are ugly?
Enjoy your date, road head can wait.
I thought this was an article announcing a new episode of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, and I let out an audible gasp when I read that Gary Shandling died.
In this situation, I’m down with OPP.
Sure. But that’s like saying preventing driving fatalities will lead to overpopulation - it’s a good problem to have. If making cars safer causes cops to reassess their allocation, size and work day - great. I’m all for an innovation that both saves lives and allows cops to solve more important crimes.

Wow, thank you very much for your detailed reply. I honestly just grabbed the first two examples I found on CraigsList. But this is Jalopnik, I should have known better.
Once upon a time we were worried that a nuke would kill us all. Now we’re worried that it might kill all of our electronics.
