I’m not sure a Panther with a Duratec V6 would be a good combination, at least not without a better transmission. They were still using the 4R70W 4 speed slush box in 2004. It wasn’t a bad transmission, but it had pretty wide gears and was often teamed up with 2.73 rear gears. In other words, the torquy and smooth 4.6

I’m not sure what trucks you’re getting under, but wedging isn’t a thing you need to do on most of them. The spare is going to be just as dirty as your other tires. Changing a flat is never going to be fun in nice clothes.

I hate how trucks do it.  Who wants to wedge themselves partially under the rear bumper to wrestle a dirty spare tire from behind the bumper?

Under vehicle spare tire mounts suck. They get full of dust and gravel, are never easy to hook and unhook, and the dropping mechanism never works when you need it to.  I’d much rather unload the trunk and stack luggage on the side of the road than wrestle with an uncooperative winch and a dirty tire under the car.

Pro tip: If you want a full size spare, and if there is room for a full size spare, you can get a used wheel and tire from a junkyard!

I’ll stand by the trunk comment inasmuch as the 911's frunk has a large enough opening that you can actually fit frunk-sized objects into it.

but unlike the 911, the car is practically undriveable in the real world. The base Camaro was pretty much useless already. The back seat will fit only toddlers or double amputees, the trunk opening is so small it causes suitcases to develop claustrophobia

The car was never good in any generation,

I dunno, once you’ve seen 50 fastbacks lined up at every Ford show, you kind of get jaded on them.

Counterpoint from a Challenger owner: Shut up, they’re fun.

Sounds like you just don’t like low revving torquy engines and the people who own WRXs.

Toyota Corolla.

My problem with them is that when compared to today’s cars, both muscle and average people movers, there is no comparison.

...What are these dudes even talking about? The Z is 400Hp with a manual and people are like “BuT iT mIgHT Be ToO HeaVy To Be fUn!” Fudge outta here with that.

Correction:  I have already overthought it.

It could follow the simple scheme used for the Mustang, Challenger, and 911 to name a few examples.

It’s somewhat puzzling that V8s don’t have a nickname in the USA,

I special ordered a Challenger this summer, they guaranteed me the $2k off, but the 0% financing was dependant on what incentive was going on at the time of the delivery.

Nope, pre airbags. Just solid hard plastic in the middle of the steering wheel.

Very common on early 80's Fords.
