The first movie worked primarily because of Tommy Lee Jones, in my book. Will Smith carries it, but the deadpan comedic timing working off of Smith is something that Jones was sensational in. Add in a great bad in Vincent D’Nofrio, and a really fresh premise, and the first one sailed.
