TL;DR Longer layover time.

The intake was redesigned from the 2014 body style to the 2015 on the 3.7 V6 for hood clearance purposes. The 2015 and up Mustangs needed a shallower intake to clear the lower hood. This reduced the total HP rating on the V6. Ford’s claim at least (see Motorweek episode for validation).
