How’s that jingoism working out for you.
How’s that jingoism working out for you.
If someone who knows much less about you on a given topic you are expert in and says something totally off base, correct the person. That puts the ball in their court. If the person doesn’t acknowledge you superior knowledge, the person is likely an idiot. If (s)he accepts your correction, then you informed the…
...and one of those levels is mineral mining in Afghanistan for China
Exactly!
Natural resources is the main reason. The seas around the islands have been found to contain large quantities of resources, including oil. China desperately needs these resources to keep its economy going at its current breakneck speed.
And the US has the right to do this, because? talk about escalating tensions. The best thing to do is for all the countries to go through legal processes in the UN and get agreement, but the US simply declaring that its going to do that, is not going to make it happen. China, quite rightly, has a great deal of…
Great post.
The problem with this scenario is it would absolutely destroy the US’s economy. The US certainly wouldn’t be able to handle China cashing in on its debt and then not using China for manufactured goods. Imagine products would suddenly become unavailable and then when they did become available they would cost 50% more.…
I’m pretty sure it was the Russians that defeated the Third Reich, despite what Hollywood wants you to think.
Since when China has a dispute with Korea, Indonesia, and Singapore?
Yes. This is the most likely scenario and China is well aware of this. It’s not so much that the US relies upon China. Rather, it’s the first part of your argument: China is a very powerful nation, at least they are becoming one. They still have no real blue water navy. But, they’re solving that problem quickly, and…
Those countries hate each other about as much as they hate/fear China.
Sure you can. We’re more interested in Formosa and who holds our military debt than anything else.
we could have beaten the Germans one on one
The US played a significant role in defeating Nazi Germany, but definitely not the main one. That honor belongs, like it or not, to the USSR first, and Poland second. The biggest battles in the war were fought in the USSR and by Soviet troops- the 900-day encirclement of Leningrad; the tank battle of Kursk, and of…
Very possibly they are more reliant on the US but the US certainly does need China.
Who are these people bud?
You forget that every US ‘ally’ in SE Asia is all to aware that the US is the other side of a very large ocean whilst China is ‘just down the road’ and Russia is close by too. Many have already hedged their bets by joining Chinese created alliances. There is also a sense that some are growing tired of the US seeming…
They’ve watched what the US has done and they realized that if they just do it a little bit at a time, at a time when the American public’s appetite for war is low, they have a decent chance of getting away with at least some of it.
I hope China spells out “Suck it” with the islands they create.
