*screams into the abyss*

I gave in and replaced one too many broken toys when the kid was a toddler. Now my preschooler has a “we’ll just buy a new one” attitude that is going to be a lot harder to break than if I had just let her cry about a couple toys she broke when she was younger.

I got the feeling that the applauds were his sad attempt to show that he appreciates her, because intellectually he gets that he screwed her over in the past, but it completely ignores the actual emotions Raffi is dealing with, because he doesn’t actually comprehend the heart of her issues.

This is the only content that should exist on the internet.

I think it falsely implies her murder only matters because she once dated Carey.

“trying” is highly underrated :)

As a recovering Fundie I deeply appreciate this attitude. Thank you for being a reasonable human who also happens to identify as Christian. It’s a rare thing.

This is some authoritarian shit and it's only going to get worse.

tRump has never forgiven New York for not liking him. It undermines his pride not having the backing of his home state

This is good!

This just adds one more thing to my emotional labor list.

My comment was mostly referring to schools in extremely conservative areas (which this seems to be) and religious or other conservative private schools. You’re probabily right, but these books are never going to be assigned at those kinds of schools anyway so those kids are probabily lost causes either way.

I went to a religious high school and nothing got me to read a book faster than knowing it was banned. Those books were the only culture I got in high school. The staggering stupidity of these people is mind boggling but hopefully it’ll inspire some sheltered kids to read something good.

Yeah, I feel like there is a lot being left out here.

Absolutely agree. Not only will TV not melt their brains outright (we’re still here) but not all screen time is the same. There are a lot of educational games out there and most of the cartoons my kid watches are a lot less mind numbing than the Loony Tunes we grew up with. Lumping those hours in with hours of

I read Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail ‘72 by Hunter S Thompson (which is good, if you like HST) a while ago. The one thing that really stuck with me is the Dems were saying the exact same thing 50 years ago and it still does’t work/isn’t true.

I am an architect. This is exactly what they have.
