As a recovering Fundie I deeply appreciate this attitude. Thank you for being a reasonable human who also happens to identify as Christian. It’s a rare thing.

I was really curious where the rating was going to land. The previews looked intense (for a Disney movie).

I’m hoping he calls her to do recon a lot. It would be a way to keep them involved without crowding the ship. 

In the prequel comics it’s implied she calls him JL to get a rise out of him, which it doesn’t because he’s Picard. It comes across as very endearing and shows everyone else just how much he respects her that she gets away with it. Her anger is quite justified.

I do think she’ll be an interesting add. They have done a great job being faithful to the spirit of the books while making enough changes that it feels fresh.

Many of them are required reading (as they should be) at public school and more progressive private schools. My comment was mostly referring to schools in extremely conservative areas (which this seems to be) and religious or other conservative private schools. You’re probabily right, but these books are never going to be assigned at those kinds of schools anyway so those kids are probabily lost causes either way.

I went to a religious high school and nothing got me to read a book faster than knowing it was banned. Those books were the only culture I got in high school. The staggering stupidity of these people is mind boggling but hopefully it’ll inspire some sheltered kids to read something good.
