At least the Bruins got a karmic comeuppance for their bad decision, and lost game two.

I didn’t know I needed this in my life, but I really did. Thank you!
Late to the party on this, but that was great. Only complaint is this has not been tagged “idiot on the field” for other people to stumble upon.
Well done to the broadcaster too. That’s 2-3 actually funny jokes made right off the cuff.
Why such a basic take on why Ajax got beat? They lost because they tried to attack too much? Isn’t this the same site that just bashed Barcelona for playing defensive against Liverpool with a similarly big lead?
Stuff happens in football. Not only should Ajax be commended for coming out and punching Tottenham square in…
Geez... and I thought things were bad at Blackpool. At least them entering administration this year has gotten control of the club back out from under the Oystons.
If the players here aren’t getting paid though, that could be a much tougher resolution. I say it’s only a 50/50 shot they don’t end up forfeiting their…
Also, (and I know this is getting way off the original point), but the chin straps really don’t do much. Unlike say a football helmet or a crash helmet where the head is solidly encased. All the tension on a goalie mask that keeps it on comes from the straps that originate at the very back. The chin strap is mostly…
It’s designed to be easy to pull forward and up to allow the goalie to have their face unblocked. No, this was not done for simplicity of having a drink, that was hyperbolic (although you can argue that’s what the function mostly gets used for as a goalie doesn’t have that many conversations with his coach by the…
I mean, if you watch the replay his mask was already fully off his head before his glove hand came up. I don’t think he was purposefully trying to dislodge his mask. As plenty of others commentators have pointed out and anyone who has ever worn one can tell you, modern goalie masks are designed to stretch so they can…
The world needs more Letterkenny references. I pity my friends who haven’t seen it yet.
Tkachuk is a pain about this. You can see in the replay where his skate is in the blue paint and makes contact with Fleury’s skate. Goaltending, especially in today’s era, is ALL about using your edges. Getting a good push off to move quickly from side-to-side while dropping the pads is what stops goals.
A little indoor soccer love from Deadspin! Shame that they eliminated the multi-point goal line when the MISL and PASL merged a few years back (in the MISL goals were worth 2 points, or 3 if behind an arcing line similar to basketball). If you live near a team and have never been to an indoor soccer game, it’s a ton…
It’s 11:46 as I write this comment... and Georgetown still sucks.
But that was a good chirp. Take your star!
Acosta’s PK was crap. Rooney’s drew a decent save. And poor old DeLeon’s was straight out of every soccer player’s biggest nightmare...
First, Gibraltar scored against Poland several years ago, albeit in a heavy loss... then the country made some noise on the club level when Lincoln Red Imps beat Celtic in the first leg of a Champions League match... now they’ve won their first ever international...
Calling it now, Gibraltar will be your 2146 World Cup…
Gotta love Jack Edwards. Homerism... but at least it’s fun and entertaining homerism.
This kind of shot is my favorite in tennis. Pulled it off once just messing around with a friend, but have always wondered why it doesn’t occur more frequently at the pro level. I’m guessing it’s just really hard to do against strong returns?
Agreed. You could see how little he moved his foot to “shoot” the ball. When it’s moving that fast (off a missed shot that conveniently turned into a dangerous pass) it’s more about redirecting the ball’s force toward the net. That’s a tough thing to do when the ball is skipping off the ground and when a player is…
Aha, hadn’t realized the 25/8 rule was used past 1996. Thought CART just had the boycott still since they had their own race. But even so, Miller qualified inside the Top 20 in both years he would have “taken” a spot from someone. But maybe the dislike just comes from him not being that fast, or the whole hokey doctor…
Woah, I’m all for lampooning Ferrucci, but what did Miller ever do to earn the hate? Guy didn’t come from money... only similarity is that they both got rides because they brought their own sponsorship to the table.
Don’t forget all manner of players “just about” getting there in time or getting it away.
