This makes me seem cynical, I know, but I just disengaged emotionally the second I saw the family and it all played out pretty much exactly as I expected so it didn't have much impact. Kids in horror films, I just really don't invest any more, with very few exceptions (Thanks, Jennifer Kent.)
I don't know if I'd say it was "fun" but it definitely was exciting and if it only unsettled me in a physical, sensory way, not at all intellectually. Unreservedly, if I'm watching a film & I begin to feel disgust at what the artist is trying to show me, I walk out/turn it off.
Under The Skin. The meat-harvesting scene, followed by the crowd-watching scene, did a serious one-two on me, to the point where I felt vertigo and felt the strongest urge to leave the theater I've ever felt.
I mean, after he has to leave the Framework and lose his daughter a second time, I'd be GENUINELY surprised if he stays on anyway.
Ironic, since Drug Church is the band Patrick has explicitly stated that he doesn't take as seriously. Doesn't necessarily man it's inferior but it does mean he doesn't feel like an essential component.
