There’s no step counter in this. What you/they call a step counter, is conversion of metrics travelled and average step length (one step every, say, 80 cm travelled based on average human builds). My evidence of this? No step counter needs GPS. Step counters works on a thread mill, and can be made to be used with

Waze sends commuters down paths it calculates to be better... Have you ever been stuck in traffic, taken a Waze alternate route and thought to yourself, fuck this, I should have just stayed where I was? That’s what NJ traffic looks like.

Wait, this city is right across the river from NYC. They’re complaining about traffic??? YOU’RE ACROSS THE RIVER FROM ONE OF THE LARGEST CITIES IN THE WORLD.

Believe so, yeah. I’ve never seen local, city OR county, LEO on the parkway or turnpike. Only state police.

Someone from the state should step in and tell them to knock this shit off now because its just going to waste tax payer money. It is also illegal to drive in NJ with something hanging from the mirror that obstructs view. While the local PD may not issue tickets I could see state and county LEO taking advantage of

In this case, it may be too much small government. New Jersey has way too many municipalities for the population, thanks to a late 19th century mania for incorporating boroughs. Too few resources spread too thin and too many local politicians trying to make names for themselves.

This seems like a slam dunk violation of the Dormant Commerce Clause, since on its face it discriminates against out-of-state interests in favor of local ones.

Serious question, when was the highway around it, as shown in another post, built and how much has the population of the area increased since then?

I too hate fire departments.

I don’t see any meaningful distinction between this and all the small towns that had artificially low speed limits to set up revenue generating speed traps. So basically, good luck to them defending this in court!

If it’s gotten that bad in places, it shouldn’t be because of Waze. Why would an app designed to help people avoid traffic backups send people into backed up traffic?

Sounds like no one here even acknowledged this line:

90% sure I-95 is a road policed by state troopers. Doubt they see much of ticket revenue.

The Turnpike’s route is all NIMBY. Its why there isn’t a direct route between New York and Philly. Per Wikipedia - “At this point, residents in Hopewell Township, Princeton, and Montgomery Township raised opposition out of the fear the Somerset Freeway would bring unwanted development to area farmland. The New Jersey

If they’re working more than 60 days a year in New York and not paying local income taxes then they’re committing tax evasion. Source: pays New York state income taxes on about a third of his income.

Just let all the roads go to pot, like Michigan bad, then no one will want to drive through their town after their umpteenth bent tie rod or cracked alloy, it’s a free money saving fix, you’re welcome Leonia!

You KNOW there some back room deals to make that stupid loop.

This needs to be in the article!

“The ordinance in question may get tested in court, however town officials are adamant that it’s perfectly legal.”

Jeez, just do what every other normal town does. Put up a sign and a circus clown.
