You probably shouldn't use the phrase "rubs me the wrong way" in this particular argument.

Pompeii got the pyroclastic surge, eventually, but not the lava (too far away from Vesuvius). Herculaneum got both the surge & the lava.

It's also worth noting that that brothel—one of many in Pompeii, way more than a city that small would otherwise have if it weren't a busy working-class port—was clearly built specifically as a brothel. One hallway, with a door at either end to get customers in & out quickly (in both senses), the user-friendly "menu"

Yeah, that's a pretty good recreation. I sometimes use it in class. (I'm a Latin teacher.) The made-for-TV Pompeii: The Last Day is worth checking out as well: http://www.imdb.com/title/t… Bonus: It features Downton Abbey's Mr. Carson!

About 75% of Pompeii proper has been excavated, though there's certainly some interesting stuff in the "suburbs" that hasn't been explored. Herculaneum is still mostly covered—something like only 20-30% has been excavated. The main difference is that Pompeii was buried in about 25 feet of ash, which became basically

In general, yeah, but the calculus is more complicated, since demographics factor in, for one thing. The overall numbers weren't that bad, but the prize demos weren't tuning in. Also, after 6 seasons, shows typically have contract stuff that factors in, like syndication & salary demands. It's not unlikely that

I imagine the rightie response will be because Trump is now president. That's the only thing that's changed. What that might have to do with this TV show I can't imagine.

I wasn't aware that he ever did anything BUT that.

Actual exchange I had with a rightie facebook friend yesterday, who posted one of those live video polls ("DO YOU STAND WITH TIM ALLEN?")

Methinks they doth protest too much.

I suppose he has to be publicly outraged on behalf of his audience, but as a TV veteran, I wouldn't be surprised if, in his heart of hearts, he knew how lucky he was that his mediocre throwback show lasted six seasons in the first place.

FMUIMMU?

Righties love the "free market", except when they don't.

The other thing the righties get wrong is they think mean = funny. And they further get it wrong by punching down, mocking the less powerful & the marginalized. I don't know that it's fair to say that conservatives are humor-impaired, but their humor seems more often to come from making other people feel bad.

Ditto for SNL.

If you're going to use the dictionary to argue your point, maybe next time try citing the right definition. When you call someone a "retard", you're using the word as a noun, not as a verb. As a verb "retard" (pronounced /ri TARD/, with a short e & the accent on the second syllable) can be contextually & formally

I'm still expecting Trump to tear off his face to reveal that he's Andy Kaufman.

Me too.

It took me years to realize that YouTube even had a comment section, & even then I couldn't understand why it needed one. Then I read some of them. It's pretty obvious that nobody in the universe needs the YouTube comments section.

Quibble: Why does this article refer to the house as a "Minneapolis-area mansion". It's not in the "Minneapolis area", it's in Minneapolis—i.e., within the city limits proper. Now, Prince's place, way out in Chanhassen, would qualify as a "Minneapolis-area" property, but not this one.
