Some of them seem to be though—like Dany. And if Tyrion ends up being the third head of the three-headed dragon, seems like he might be one of the exceptions too. I'm just speculatin' about a hypothesis—I know I don't know nothin'!

Unless Tyrion is actually a Targaryan bastard—he could survive a burnin', like Dany did.
What are you guys talking about? That's just Ser Robert Strong!
Whoo-hoo-hoo, look who knows so much! It just so happens that your
friend here is only MOSTLY dead. There's a big difference between mostly
dead and all dead.
What do you mean "wrong armor"? The stabber in said scene clearly has the Targaryen sigil on his breastplate. And earlier teaser trailers seemed to show flashbacks to the confrontation at the Tower of Joy. I think the writer here is spot-on.
Anybody else wonder whether that last scene means we'll find out Tyrion is really a bastard Targaryen after all? I found myself thinking maybe he gets a face full of dragon fire but emerges unburnt. Could they really be setting up Jon-Dany-Tyrion s the three-headed dragon?
Someone needs to adopt those as their house words.
Preferably in Latin.

You may be onto something there.
Point taken, & I don't disagree, exactly. I still think the AVC is a better-than-average pop culture site, but yeah, there is more fluff than there used to be, more of the kind of stuff that they didn't used to post & that you could, & still can, get from lots of other places. And I still wish the AVC wouldn't…
You'll be given cushy jobs!
Look, I'm usually not much of a scolder here at the good ol' A.V. Club, & I've been a registered poster for…Jesus, is it really 8 years?!? Anyways, we don't really have a reputation for being dicks (though we are all, on occasion, dickish). In fact, I find this to be a veritable haven of decent, normal commenters,…
Don't sell yourself short!
SO many great exchanges between Tom & Verna!
What heart?
"Oh, sure, although it's not all that good, I'm afraid."
Respectfully disagree—that's a solid story, at all levels. Not least because (a) you were witty, (b) you stuck it to a legit pretentious asshole of a coworker, & (c) you kept your cool admirably in a scenario that could easily have left you…
Miller's Crossing is one of the movies I keep coming back to—such great dialog & awesome performances, with Byrne's at the top of the heap. His sparring with Marcia Gay Harding just crackles, & he goes toe-to-toe with an old pro like Albert Finney without even breaking a sweat. If Tommy Reagan was the only role he…
Religion notwithstanding, comparing Jesus' rhetoric to MLK's is just bad pedagogy. We have many MLK speeches that we know he wrote, himself, & quite a few of them were recorded (audio, video, or both). Because rhetoric is performance, being able to watch MLK actually deliver speeches allows us to assess his…
"Punitive punishments"? As opposed to…?
Doppich is a particular favorite—it sounds like what it is, like Yiddish words so often do. I also remember "it's all" meaning there's none left—like most (all?) PA Dutch, it's corrupted German (das ist Alles). Also, "outen" for turn off, as in "outen the lights"—but pronounced /OT-en/.
I grew up in Reading PA, so not Philly or Philly adjacent, but firmly within Philly's orbit. I literally never heard this word, used or referenced, until a year or so ago, & then only via internet memes. Of course, Berks County slang is Pennsylvania Dutch influenced, so we have words nobody else uses, too.
