Me, too, but I've never seen it, which doesn't make much sense. They must have done a piss-poor job of marketing it, too—I barely even remember its existence.
I have to respectfully disagree. Hardly earthshaking, but it was neither abjectly dumb nor painfully boring.
I imagine teenage Jesus would have, on more than one occasion, shouted at Joseph, "YOU'RE NOT MY REAL DAD!"
OK, so I haven't read Rice's novel (nor do I plan to), but as a student & teacher of classics, I have to ask: What is the rationale for young Jesus to be tailed by a Roman? In what way was Jesus, at this point in his life, even remotely "the innocent who got away" that this Severus would be "tasked with finding"? …
I'm working my way through the Last of the Jedi series. I saw the first one at the library, & thought my son—who is 11, & who, like all 11-year-old boys, loves Star Wars—would dig it. Anyways, they're pretty good, with the added advantage of being VERY quick reads. And honestly, these books do a better job…
Trashcan? You didn't RECYCLE? You, sir, are worse than Hitler!
Did you steal this joke from I, Claudius? In an early episode, when Tiberius is talking to his brother Drusus about their mother Livia, he says, "They say a snake bit her once—and died." Maybe it's just an old joke I never heard before I, Claudius?
It's a pretty loose word—a good starting point is "thing" because that
covers a lot of ground in English. On my vocab lists, I define res for my students as "thing; matter, affair; fact, situation, circumstances; business, account, profit; property; science. etc.". It's very context specific. E.g., the Romans used…
I'm not a nerd. I'm a Latin teacher.
(Of course, "in media res" could just have been a typo. Either way, it should be edited, is all I'm saying.)
No time to read through all the comments to see if anyone else mentioned it, but:

Seems like the point of the post was mostly to feature the side-by-side comparison & the animated history lesson. I didn't read it as "news", per se.
Stifle it!
Seriously—who is following this jagoff on Twitter?
You are part of the problem.
And mighty mountains!
Because IT'LL HURT MORE!
I don't care for it, but I give him a pass because it was just SO MUCH a product of its (crappy, crappy) time.
Also, because he's Paul Fucking McCartney.
I think that's a big part of why he resonated so strongly with so many people, & so many disparate people. However "out there" he was sometimes, it never felt like a put-on, never felt like a pose, or something he was doing just to shock or confuse. It was always just a genuine, sincere expression. It's weird—he…
