Clueless Neophyte

I was just posting about his recent stay here in Minnesota, back at Hazelden. The breaking news came in the form of a selfie some kid working at a local ice cream place took with him. They're both smiling, & from all reports he was really nice & gracious.

A couple weeks ago he was spotted getting ice cream at a random little place here in Minnesota. Turns out he had checked himself back into Hazelden. It made the local news before it got out to the rest of the world. I was glad that he was getting himself the help he thought he needed at the time. It's a damn shame

The Fisher King is his best performance, IMO, but there's literally nobody else who could have pulled off Good Morning Vietnam.

And they call ME Clueless Neophyte!

Assuming that naming the ship Cygnus isn't a Rush reference, it's a bit on-the-nose, isn't it? Kind of reminds me of J.K. Rowling's too-apt character names—I love the Potter series, but what are the odds the parents of an eventual werewolf would name their newborn Remus, & have the last name Lupin?

I like Hardwick but I'm not a Whovian. Never even seen the show. But hey, good for him for continued gainful employment, doing exactly what he enjoys doing! We should all be so lucky!

I heard it was emerald ash borers. Sad, either way.

I'm a Latin teacher, @bmfiii:disqus (with a BA & an MA in Latin)—been at it for 20 years!

I'll have to check this out—I've never listened to an interview with her. And I have no opinion about Andy Greenwald, so he probably won't annoy me!

I've never been surrounded by anybody singing the praises of Rilo Kiley, so it's never been over-praised to me. From that perspective, it's just a kick-ass tune.

Never heard of 'em, but I dig girl singers. Just went to their website, & they have what looks like a whole album streaming there via soundcloud (Only Come Out at Night). Just into the first tune ("Baby Teeth"), & it's pretty good. Thanks for the tip, @Spiltmilk:disqus !

Goddamn, Rickenbackers are beautiful guitars. And I'm a drummer!

I was gonna mention Tench's ep of WTF, too—all around great. Not only an affable subject, but lots of interesting things to say.

I'm genuinely disappointed that it took as long as it did for someone to get here—shoulda been the first, or maybe the second comment. Do better, people!

Wow—you really put a lot of thought into this. And kudos to you for giving them the benefit of the doubt, but I have to side with the other respondents here & say nope.

Fun Fact: It's the Latin word for a sewer! Originally they were just underground conduits to re-route water & dry out land enough to build on it (this is how the Romans drained the Forum so it could be paved). Later, some cloacae were used with the aqueduct system, used like modern sewers.

A significant portion of parenting, especially in the early years, is basically suicide watch. My oldest isn't quite 10 yet, but if my own youth is any indication, the teen years will revert to same.

Stupid Disqus used to be easier to search—I searched for "fudge" & thought nobody else had made this correction. Well, great minds & all that.

So, if their guns are just, you know, THERE, can I grab them? All these Rambos think they'll break bad if the shit goes down, but I bet most of 'em would piss themselves and/or faint if anything dangerous actually occurred.
