I'm kind of surprised this movie has a less-than-stellar reputation. I guess I can see why, due to the silliness and utterly bland protagonist.
Two things I love about this film. Little touches.

I'm 31 and I JUST NOW found out that Angels with Filthy Souls wasn't a real movie. Now that we've got that out of the way, in the AwFS continuity, what did Johnny mean that AC was upstairs 'Takin' a Bath?' Is that a noir slang? Did Johnny drown AC?

You swine really owe it to yourself to watch that Monterey Pop video in the text. Just transcendent stuff. It really is not, as Shankar said, a museum piece. It is quite good and engaging, even if you play it in the background.

Great movie. Filthy movie. You can really feel the nicotine-sweat and crusted collars while watching this. Rourke's hair looks like it has not been washed since the war.

I think I first heard of Ligotti on these well-informed boards. I've never met another person who has ever heard of him, even among horror aficionados. I was amazingly lucky to track down a copy of the Nightmare Factory through a Half Priced Books in Tacoma (and they were kind enough to send it to me in Indiana for…

How odd, this is right where I finished reading last night!
I think you're conflating two parts of the book, which actually are relatively early in the goings-on. There is the horrifying Attack by Comanche (where White's army is ruined by a group of Comanche wearing broken mirrors and painted bodies and wedding…

Wait, that IS him covering his own song? His voice sounds completely different.

You're the fucking man, Miller. That's probably better than Del Shannon's version. Just more raw and a little more true to the lyrics. Maybe because it is partnered with the fantastic credit sequence from Crime Story, but I really prefer that version.
