I think this is a great story.. until you contextualize it into a world where women do the lion’s share of domestic/cleaning/etc labor, even when both spouses work.

Oh man, the number of people I know who had another kid to try to “fix” the marriage.
Usually the best thing about those foods packaged for kids is the fact that they can be eaten with your hands. So basically, if you make an adult food that’s good for eating with your hands, kids will usually enjoy eating it for that alone.
Seconded: reusable food pouches are great.. My kids are 11 and 9 and we still use them in order to cut down on pouch applesauce, which is still a thing. I’ve also been known to fill them with tomato soup (to be eaten alongside grilled cheese) when the kids need to eat dinner in the car between afternoon activities.
I was easily able to stop the TJ’s when I started going to Asian markets regularly.
One of the stupidest modern birthday things is cake with like airbrush-style pictures on them. They’re always terrible and stupidly expensive.
It’s not exactly like Splinter (and also, they’re very much not into Bernie), but Wonkette has a similarly casual tone and progressive bent and the comments section tends to be good.
And I’m stubborn and will still try to do things I shouldn’t do, but it then creates more work for them when I inevitably hurt myself.
Yeah, this.
So true. I was a quiet kid who had a bit of a rebellious streak and I always assumed the former trumped the latter. What I didn’t take into account is that it was a sleepy town and news is news.
I love your minor self-sabotage. Genius!
I have Uber and an electric cargo bike. I will never regret all the time I keep for myself not doing errands for other people, and the cost is less than car ownership.
This was me too, except second-hand. My mom would spend hours a night dragging my brothers and me around. All the activities were like 30-60 minutes, just long enough so you couldn’t really do anything else. It was years of her life idling in a car.
Lee Sun Kyun!? I would never have put them together, at all. He was amazing in Miss Korea.
Turns out, before the scandal broke, one of the sleeper hits of last year in South Korea was a tv show about college admissions tinkering, told from the point of view of the ruthless parents. Total ratings gold. It was _delicious_.
I can’t talk too much of k-movies, but this is def. true of k-TV too. One of the biggest things that sucked me into k-TV is how class conscious it is.
WWW was the single greatest thing I saw this year. Lee Da Hee killed. That seen of her goign all Lemonade was a thing of total beauty.
My grandpa: “Don’t learn how to do something that you don’t want to have to do.”
That’s one of the reasons I went on the sole cruise I’ve ever been on... my mother had had hip surgery and had been lazy about getting back on her feet, so a cruise was a great way to ease into more activity that was nevertheless not too overwhelming.
There is no “The Christian Church in North America”.
