If you have that little trust and communication between you and your child that you need key logging software from the police to manage their internet use, there is something seriously wrong with your relationship and you really need to deal with that rather than looking for a technological solution to 'police' them.
I don't really have a problem in paying a reasonable amount for printer ink, but some of the printer manufacturers act like the worst drug dealers/junk food conglomerates that you've ever come across.

As a designer, (and also photographer/photojournalist) I'm also a fan of using a pencil and paper over a digital drawing tool. I love the way it feels and it's much nicer sometime to have something that's tactile and 3 dimensional, as opposed to flat and electronic.
