You can thank the rich people for that. Paying off politicians so they have no noise at their beach. Most unsafe departure procedure anywhere because richie riches bought a house near an airport yet don't like the noise.

I'm not surprised by his ending advice. I sat for three interviews with regional airlines in 2005, and decided I couldn't afford to work for $25k/year hoping to get a seat upgrade and establish a career. Instead I went the charter route, flying part-time in small turboprops. I wish things had been different though.
