I assume he’s getting disciplined because someone contacted him about a job and his response was to send sexually explicit messages.

I’m going to say that this is both a very personal preference on your part, and that you presented it in the worst way possible by steering the discussion toward men’s magazines.
I always find it hilarious when MRAs find women “unfuckable” while also being involuntarily celibate.
The dead end was frustrating, because, as a fat feminist, I was hungry to find out who the original poster could be so I could then eat them.
Rape and domestic abuse are different kinds of crime than robbery...
Truth be told, those squeeze packs of apple sauce are amazing. Especially the strawberry flavor. And they’re so great for stashing in your purse and scarfing down while you drive somewhere.
But I like that she posted a bare face. It's refreshing (not for her, in general).
Six weeks of “parental leave” is ridiculous. Women take 6-8 weeks to fully recover from a vaginal birth or c-section on average. So basically, men and adoptive parents get six weeks to bond with their babies. Women who gestate their own babies get barely, BARELY enough time to recover physically from one of the…
OK THEN, JODY HiROLLER, WHOMEVER YOU MAY BE
Best laid plans an all that...We bought a duplex with my In-Laws prior to our 1st little bird’s arrival, with the understanding that they would babysit full time. They babysat full time for exactly 2 days and then told us to get a nanny, something that was a financial hardship for us to do . Even when I was hatching…
Yup. My mom lives 100 miles away. But my son’s daycare was closed today and I still had to work. She drove out last night and watched him while I was at work. She also cleaned my kitchen while he was napping. She would like to move closer to us but she spends a lot of time and energy caring my grandfather who lives in…
It’s absolutely a lady thing. After all, if the kid’s sick, who does he assume will stay home with it? No matter how it actually winds up working out, his initial assumption will color his approach to this immensely.
I’m a labor and delivery nurse. I’ve had many, many experiences caring for pregnant women in shackles... I can’t begin to describe how relieved and happy I am about this
So not going to enter the debate over whether this song is full-on rapey, or just an outdated expression of a woman trying to get laid. I think both sides of that debate can agree, though, that this song (and the societal expectations that created it) is a big part of why people think that women “cry rape.”
If you can’t understand why two people singing for several minutes about how “they’ll just have to tell everyone he overpowered her and had his way with her” doesn’t make this a less grotesque story to make a romantic holiday song (that gets SO. MUCH. AIRPLAY., no less) out of, than I guess I will never get through to…
It IS a date-rape scenario though. Yes, the listener is expected to be in on the joke that she really does want to stay, but the thing is the cover story is still a date rape scenario. And it still only works as a cover story if the woman is interpreted as “secretly wanting [sex].”
I understand that the expectation was that a “proper” young woman was not allowed to say yes when offered anything physical, and was to say no, and make the young man “work” for it by seducing and overpowering her. I also understand that if the woman is not allowed to say yes, and if her No is going to be interpreted…
Because “’No’ just means ‘try harder’” is still an incredibly fucked up expectation that has the same effective outcome of removing the woman’s agency. It was fucked up back then, and it’s fucked up today.
I don’t get it. They died? She killed them? Fed them to a neighbor’s snake? What?
