If you are a fan and haven’t seen ‘Julie,’ do yourself a favor and watch it. So fantastic and one of her rare dramas. ‘Storm Warning’ is also another great drama she was in.
I had the long pleated plaid skirt that went so well with my Famolores (extra wavy, thanks) and knee socks, but gotta hand it to my mom who made me swim bikinis in two patterns of calico. Pure cotton, no stretch.
I had what I call a wrap dress window— I bought one many years ago, beautiful silk knit, camel/black pattern and I rocked it until I got just a little bit out of proportion. It still fits, but it’s just not flattering at the waist and that affects the drape the rest of the way down. I can’t seem to part with it yet tho…
City bus in Seattle while he was snorting rush and staring at me.
Thanks from a fellow designer for saying everything I was thinking while reading the article, especially regarding fonts. This really is a hot take.
Ugh. My mom. The tree was taken down and all traces of Christmas were gone by 5pm. And then she’d put the tree out in the front yard with the sad iced cookie decorations and strings stale popcorn left on ‘for the birds to eat.’
My husband and I watched it for the first time a couple of days ago. I could not believe how terrible/sexist/dumb it was. I felt obligated to watch all of the way through on a friend’s recent recommendation and all the love it generally gets on the internet but jaysus by the end I was ready for the eyeball bleach and…
Cow costume. Not. Having it.
Our cat, Jacques, went as Jacques the Ripper last year. (This year he had a cow outfit that he was not having.)
Yes! There were a number of shots from the video that were full stop horror movie shots, like when she comes around the corner when he’s getting to his apartment. The robotic movements, the little creepy dog, she just.. appears...
So well said. My own mother was my first experience with this . She was the one who grabbed my t shirt so it tightened around my front, in front of my parents’ friends to show off my new breasts (I was in 4th grade and didn’t get it) with a knowing smile. I was beyond mortified and humiliated but at the time couldn’t…
OMG I had no idea! Huge old movie nerd, child of 80s videos and I never knew. Thank you!
I can’t even imagine how it’s pronounced. Like, ‘TZA’? Cuz that’s a tricky sound to make. Or is it ‘ZA’?
He really just slays in head bonks and belly rubs! :)
The family cat, Jacques, going as... Jacques the Ripper.
I love The Spiral Staircase (1946), it’s got it all, a spooky mansion, dark and stormy night and a serial killer who preys on women with ‘afflictions’ (as IMDB puts it). Also it’s the women who get the job done! Dorothy McGuire is amazing and the mighty Ethel Barrymore is at her fiercest.
Came here to add that one! I still can’t watch that one alone. And to say I watch The Innocents and The Haunting every year. I also love the old BBC Ghost Stories for Christmas, ‘Whistle and I’ll Come to You’ (the remake version with John Hurt) is slow burn scary and sad and ‘Number 13' is good too.
That comment really stood out for me too.
To be fair, pretty much everything in the 80s looked like 80s softcore, haha!
