Yeah, I'm from Western Md, not far from Pittsburgh, I like to watch British shows as well, usually Doctor Who, and I use a British pronunciation on occasion.

Yeah, Trigger is the only studio that I know of that has a fluent English speaker on their main staff: https://twitter.com/Trigger_Tattun He's in charge of publicity and does translations and subtitles on the side (at least for Inferno Cop and LWA, not sure if he did them for Kill la Kill though.)

Watanabe's a very intelligent director. He'll take a completely gonzo idea (like hip-hop samurai) and make it deep and engaging. I wouldn't be surprised if there's going to be a deep back story as the show goes on.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's referring to the restaurant Boobies, and he needs to get there to catch someone, or meet with someone. Something tells me that's actually the case.

There needs to be more punk music in anime. Particularly the crazy-awesome ones, like this and everything made by Studio Trigger.

I thought Haruhi was pretty good, in my very humble opinion. Particularly Crispin Freeman as Kyon. But that's my personal opinion and its ok for you to disagree.

Yeah, its easier to get anime nowadays. Much easier than it was back in my day. And I'm cool with subs. However, if I like a show enough to get a home

Now playing

Actually, the English dub was produced alongside the Japanese version, and since the dub will be released first, Philosophical Raptor time, would that mean that the dub is the original?

I'll have to disagree with you on the odds of it being a good dub, most dubs lately have been ranging from ok to good to great. Its

It looks like they really lightened the contrast. Not enough dark colors to balance out the lights.

I kinda see it as "Futurama and Fifth Element meets Lupin III". And that's a good thing.

It reminds me of how people reacted to Kill la Kill. First episode was like "Fanservice and sexuality in an anime? Oh how scandalous!" Now everyone talks about how crazy-awesome everything else in the show is. Hell, barely anyone notices the fanservice in the show anymore.

I'm assuming the same thing will happen with

I think you're missing the focus of the trailer. Most of it shows it as a campy, colorful ray-gun gothic adventure with lots of comedy and action. The Boobies joke is not the main focal point of the trailer. It lasts about 10 seconds out of a 1:30.

I see the trailer as SPACE! ACTION! ADVENTURE! ALIENS! SPACESHIPS! oh

I'm pretty sure 99% of the show will be alien-hunting fun.

Also, Boobies is a not-so-subtle satire of Hooters taken to its most extreme, and is probably meant to look ridiculous. If South Park did it (and they did) most people wouldn't bat an eye.

Exactly, its not like there wasn't sexual stuff and humor in Watanabe's stuff before. As you said, Faye looked like the walking incarnation of Sex, yet she had a lot of character development.

I think there will be some deeper, emotional parts (look at the scene right before the title card) but I think it'll be sillier

Same way with me. This seems to be happening to alot of people. I was big into anime about 10 years ago, but slowly dropped out because there wasn't anything that interested me. And now, boom, everyone's talking about anime again, including myself.

I think Crunchyroll, the return of Toonami, and the successes of Attack

I feel the same way. It can be a bit jarring in the first episode maybe, but once the show takes off, everything else towers over it; the character interaction, the fight scenes, the comedy, the creative use of animation. I just don't notice the fanservice anymore.

You know what the definition of being an adult is? Not caring whether someone likes "cartoons" or not.

This is most certainly not something one would show to children. And you think people are only watching it for the violence and fanservice? You think they're only watching it to say to themselves "DURR I'M SO NAUGHTY

Well, since Tolkien said that evil cannot create, only warp and destroy, I took that to mean that Morgoth took some naturally occurring species and warped them into dragons. There may have been multiple types of creatures that Morgoth warped into dragons, for example, Glaurung couldn't fly and flying dragons didn't

I think it was Peter Jackson, but it may have been someone else involved with the production who said they wanted Smaug to look more like dragons evolved naturally. There's no creature with 4 legs and wings in real life, which would be 6 limbs, but there's plenty of creatures where the forelimbs are wings, like bats

GODDAMIT YOU.

That creeped me out all night long after reading it.
