TV execs, in particular, seemed to have their heads so up their ass in the past decade that they're goddamned near inside-out. The Sci Fi/Syfy execs who cancelled MST3K to make room for movies that look like they would be on MST3K, not to mention the wrasslin'. The execs who brutally mutilated The Learning Channel and

I can't see China going that far, at least not in the next 5-15-years or so. China's got more internal and external problems than they let on. The next 5-10 years will be the crucible.

Maybe, but that's Congress, and Congress can change. NASA's still doing awesome things. Got probes heading to Pluto and Ceres. The moon, we've done it. Yeah, we should go more often, but there's still alot of unexplored places in the solar system, places that we've got probes heading towards right now.

We dropped an automobile on Mars using the most complicatedly awesome landing system ever devised. We're doing fine. China still has a ways to go to catch up.

Great news, everyone! A Gainax Ending for all of us!

You do know anime isn't a genre, its a medium, right? There's as many genres in anime as there is in live-action. And there's quite a few anime films and series which are considered to be timeless classics among ALL mediums. There's good stuff and bad stuff, as all other mediums have, but hating on all of it is like

Now playing

Needs some classic Gyorgi Ligeti as the soundtrack to get the full effect.

I can't remember if there was any indication whether the dead woman was supposed to be Skye's mother or not. Last night's episode really seemed to hint that there's some kind of relationship between May and Skye. Whether she was the mother or the agent who delivered her to the orphanage, we have yet to see.

I got the feeling that May may be Skye's mother too.

Yeah, I didn't recognize her. She just looked like another generic moeblob to me.

Those aren't cliffs.

Yeah, the eldritch abomination Godzilla is something I've longed to see. Its something which the 1954 original also suggested (though limited by the film techniques of the era) as well.

I've always thought that that music was perfect for the scary unknown. Its basically the musical equivalent of a glimpse of an eldritch abomination.

Yeah, that was the gist of the original 1954 version as well.

I don't deny that some are cliche in non-moe anime, though I think Kill la Kill is a clever deconstruction/reconstruction of various genres of anime so cliche can't really be applied to it since its spoofing cliches. Hell, the episodes its on right now would be the ending of any other anime but its only at the

I guess its because the Coen Brothers are accomplished directors who know what the hell they're doing, while this is being directed by...*wikis him* the director of The Grudge? And various other horror movies? The fuck?

But yeah, I know what you mean. The original will always exist, and if a new one is good, that's ok

Yeah, I was turned off to, especially during the time before easy streaming, when it was harder to sample an anime before committing to it. Then I found Gurren Lagann and Crunchyroll and then Toonami came back.

There hasn't been casting yet, so who knows. I guess the actors' race isn't important, its whether its a good movie. and captures the original well. but it can easily go wrong and get very cheesy, as with this live action Kiki movie.

I dunno, its likely it might have a smaller budget than those.

Also, all of the characters, except for Mikasa, are canonically caucasian, with a few characters being obviously African or mediterranean. In fact, Mikasa being the last (half)asian is a major part of her backstory. I wonder if they'll cast American and

Yeah, also, there are some really talented animators and background artists in the industry, yet most of the time they are stuck drawing high schools and generic teenagers. No wonder when they get the chance to cut loose and get creative, they get CRAZY-AWESOME creative, like with Kill la Kill or the upcoming Space
