Hajime Isayama is giving George R.R. Martin a run for his money in "let's see how many great characters we can kill!"
The newest chapter of the manga is no exception (won't spoil it).

Heh, It was cool to see Steve Blum and Kari Wahlgren on the list. I've been big fans of them since I first heard their voices in Cowboy Bebop and FLCL, respectively.
Steve Blum is in it. Guess one will have to watch the movie to see him. I've loved his work since Cowboy Bebop, and I still get a bit giddy when I hear him in a video game or elsewhere.
Bang.
Yeah, that's because Gainax isn't Gainax anymore. Most of Gainax left to Trigger.
It was pretty damn awesome. I was giddy as a schoolgirl throughout the entire episode. Imaishi understands that just because its anime doesn't mean it can't be animation. There was just so many crazy angles, squishing and squashing and one-frame easter eggs. Highly recommended.
Hiroyuki Imaishi aint with Gainax anymore and he almost had nothing to do with the new Eva films (though you can see they were trying to copy his style in the fight scenes). Trigger is his baby. Kill la Kill is best new Gainax show that isn't by Gainax.
FLCL was made by Old-Gainax. Almost everyone who were responsible for the shows that were very very Gainax (Eva, FLCL, Gurren Lagann, Panty and Stocking) left Gainax to start a new studio, Trigger. That's probably why "Gainax(if you can call it that anymore)"'s recent shows have been pretty meh, outside of the Eva…
Exactly, my thoughts. I watched Kill la Kill last night, and my thoughts at the end were "Trigger is the new Gainax."
Nearly everyone involved with Gainax's most famous works have left. Anno has left to found Khara. Hiroyuki Imaishi and lots of others left to found Trigger. There are a few still left at Gainax, like…
Actually, Panty and Stocking was the last show made by the old guard of Gainax, before they jumped ship to form Trigger. Yes, it was made by the same people who made Gunbuster, Eva, FLCL and Gurren Lagann. And yes, they were drunk (and possibly high) when they came up with the idea for the show. But I think that's how…
Yup, I immediately recognized it. Nice little easter egg. I'm sure there is plenty of wild mass guessing trying to fit the Firefly 'verse with the Marvel Universe.
This is by the same guys who did Gurren Lagann. It's MEANT to be over-the-top.
In case you didn't know, Gurren Lagann is the show where the laws of physics being broken by the act of being awesome is a major plot point. The show ends with giant robots the size of the universe throwing galaxies at each other. The top…
Yeah, first time I've heard of it. There's only one show I'm really looking forward to this season.
As great as Attack on Titan is, its too bad that teens are the main protagonists. They are far more mature than the typical teen anime protagonists though, (at least Mikasa and Armin are) so its got that going for it. In fact, I don't think the story would be much more different if the protagonists were all adults.
Spea…
I posted about it too. Trigger hasn't disappointed me so far (and that goes for when they were part of Gainax too), and everything I've seen about Kill la Kill says it's going to be awesome.
Anything by Trigger deserves to get more attention than "K-ON in Chernobyl!", which is what the main article's anime reminds me…
Looks ok, but the show I'm most looking forward to is Kill la Kill. Directed by the same guys who did Gurren Lagann. Looks like it'll do to the magical schoolgirl genre what Gurren Lagann did to the mecha genre. Which is "make it incredibly over-the-top, badass and CRAZY-AWESOME"
Agreed, I read the manga after the final episode. Can't wait to see how the latest cliffhanger pans out. Should be a week or so until next chapter.
Yeah, something like Attack on Titan is a rarity nowadays. I'm surprised its selling like hotcakes despite how (sometimes, almost subversively) non-moe it is. Maybe a sign of a change for the better? Guess we'll have to wait and see.
Yeah, I hope so too. From looking at the way the plot is made, there's really no reason too. It does seem to be picking up, though, as the end of current chapter teases a showdown that's been long-expected.
Yeah, I hope they give the manga some space to pick up before they start another season. In the meantime, I think…
