It’s mainly because Businesses are above the law. You can’t sue the people directly responsible in a business and if they ever have debt issues that can just declare bankruptcy or dissolve and not have to pay a penny back and the actual people will not have to worry about anything.

Honestly, I was thinking all the button mashing symbolism was just to fill in the gap of what the character would be seeing (not the player) during said impossible fight. The player would have seen his character take a hit, 9999 flash above his characters head and then fall dead to the ground.
