The show was already going in entirely too many directions at once, and now the death of Marshall's Dad's going to pull it in another one. I didn't mind the way it was done, but it seems likes it's an unnecessary tear jerker to make the birth of Lily and Marshall's baby tha much more emotional.

Totally agree about the "why Ted would like Zoe" angle. If it was a C plot, I could *maybe* get on board with it, simply as filler to when Ted's love life returns to driving the show. But every other episode now it's taking the A or B line.

Lackluster
I am usually extremely forgiving of this show, but man, this ranks as one of the worst episodes yet for me. I hardly even chuckled during the entire show, a rarity for me even during the most sloppily written eps.

That makes sense, but I would think Peter would still need to be involved in some way. Especially considering that we only got a little bit of him with the device in the S2 finale, and he was depicted with it in that drawing.

Also: Wow, did you actually get to SEE the rod?

Yeah, I'm a bit confused with that myself. I assume it will unfold in the second half of this season, but either there are loopholes in the plan or I'm forgetting/missing something entirely.

Peter's involvement with the device
At first I thought Fauxlivia was going to extract something from Peter, but seems she simply forced him to inject himself with the paralytic. Is the plan to leave Peter on Earth-1 while Walternate fine-tunes the ability to cross over, then snagging Peter at the right time to operate…
