The courtyard would need to be filled to the brim with plants and trees, then I'm impressed. Very incomplete otherwise.

@golferal: I have two questions regarding your above claims:

@jiggpig: "and if iOS were open then someone would just port those over"

Which hardware company doesnt work with China or Taiwan? The origin of manufacturing isnt the kicker, it's the actual carbon footprint of manufacturing. That's what should be on the box.

@teh1andonlym0: This list is not (obviously?) intended for "consumers." These are bullet points for hardware manufacturers, not you and me.

How can you quote Edison saying "I always invented to obtain money to go on inventing" and equate that to mean "Thomas Edison was not an inventor for the love of the game." Really, because your quote demonstrates that the one thing he always wanted to keep doing was inventing. Which sounds exactly like "for the love

@Bs Baldwin: Yeah, thats it. So do I bow down to you now, or do I do it later? I don't know the etiquette for how to handle my "I buy from iOS developers, therefor I am an idiot and have no taste"-itus. Such a horrible affliction I have.

@2 replies: As many others have pointed out, Android is exactly the same way. Also, by all accounts what you're talking about is a lot more common in Android anyway.

@pɹɐoqʎǝʞuǝʞoɹq: Let me just stop you right there by saying that the "trickle" from mobile advertising isn't going to sustain you compared to producing an app that people want to buy. Either product has a shelf life anyway.

@KLanD: "I'll stick to Flash thank you." Facepalm? Flash isn't even in the running for this, just a big FYI. Cost issues aside.

@—Core—: Hmm, I dunno. That was my first thought as well. However, I don't think it's logical to see katana handle and think "umbrella," and I definitely wouldn't think that if it was strapped to a guys back. Who straps an umbrella to their back?

@hawkeye18: Public Radio International as well! (This American Life!)

@dallasmay: You didn't understand the article. Android is modeled after iOS, not after the World Wide Web. Android apps only run on Android, which is completely anti-old model Web.

@onu: Given that Google's entire business model revolves around giving services away for free, including Android to hardware makers, I'm a little perplexed as to why this could be confusing.

@dallasmay: Really, where is the evidence that members of the OHA have to license Google Maps and GMail to use within Android? What are the fees?

"Really? I mean really?" - Seth Meyers SNL is what comes to mind here. Kinda speechless.

@Dacker: 99.99999% sure this happened during the week. I have lots of friends who work in the industry, and this kind of stuff happens all the time. From a business standpoint, its total team building. You gotta have a fun/loose environment to make great games, thats just how the industry is.
