As a journalist, I do not agree that what she did was “kinda funny.”

For someone in communications, she sure isn’t very good at speaking out loud.

Justine Sacco made a regrettable joke on her personal Twitter account. That is hardly analogous to yelling at journalists and encouraging the manhandling of them out of a public space while in a professional capacity and in front of students.

I’m actually amazed at how many people are shrugging off the unprofessionalism this woman has exhibited, both in her actions and her apology in which she still essentially blamed “spirited journalists” for her behavior. She doesn’t deserve to be shamed or harassed, but she also should not be in a position to shape

Yet those jobs are still in demand, and by people far more qualified than she is.

“Long after the event” — really? Her “I was fired because I’m white” bullshit happened four months ago. I know our attention spans have shortened in this hyperactive era, but that doesn’t seem so long ago to me.

My actions were shaped by exasperation with a few spirited reporters.

The University of Missouri suffered a drop of 2,600 students enrolling for the Fall 2016 semester. The drop translates to a $36 million budget shortfall for the university. This largely has been attributed to the furor surrounding the student protests and Ms. Click’s actions.
