Recently got back from a trip to Ireland. Can confirm. You forgot to mention though that the vehicle coming the other way at 80 kph is a full sized tour bus.
That was a very well written analysis of this car. I have another favorite two word description for the Phaeton that I also think sums up this sentiment:
I just got back from Ireland where my rental for over a week was an Opel Astra. Manual, diesel, and right hand drive. I thought it was a very nice car and would definitely consider it if it was sold here and I was shopping in the segment. I could see how a hot version would be a lot of fun.
Lately I’ve been wondering why ford never made a Panther based wagon (at least second and third gen panther, there may have been a first gen panther wagon). It could have competed with the Chevy Caprice wagon in the 90's and thanks to the aftermarket support for the Panther and mod 4.6 it could have been made into an…
I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic and trying to troll or if your serious. I’m assuming you know this won’t be a popular opinion among this crowd.
As a former 850 owner and enthusiast I had no idea you could get a T5-R with a manual in North America at all. I now want one. The auto in my T5 (not R) wagon was the reason I ultimately got rid of it.
Wait 480? This was never sold in the US to my knowledge but knowing what I know about Volvo’s old model nomenclature did this come with a V8?
I miss the old days of the Power Block. Stacey David was my favorite.
For me too. it’s been happening on articles of this format.
A well chosen picture. I’m loving the color and the wheels on this one.
Agreed. I wasn’t crazy about the looks until I saw one in person.
My first car was a tercel 3 door in this exact color although the one pictured is an 82-86 and mine was a 87. I’m really curious to know what is going on with the drive train on this one because they only left the factory as front or all wheel drive.
When my Volvo 850 Turbo wagon (a car I simultaneously loved and hated) finally died I ended up driving a 2003 Saturn Ion base model with an auto for nine months. It was quite possibly the dullest car imaginable but it was a running car that my family had that wasn’t currently being used. I was a broke collage student…
I recently had a rental Sonata. I see a lot of that in the dash.
Breaks feel a little soft, eh?
I love this car but I can’t fathom what kind of person would pay that kind of money for it.
Also the window of the Z is partly down until the dog goes to break it then it is all the way up.
I got more than halfway through this article reading it as he buried the cars not burned the cars. I was sitting there wondering to myself if any of the cars would be worth trying to dig up.
