That was a really good trailer. Though it’s going for something completely different, it made me think of the original trailer for The Shining:

Looking forward to it. FIrst Reformed was excellent. Gotta love the late in life resurgence!

Thank you! I knew I recognized the music from somewhere, but I couldn’t put my finger on it.

The one that still gets the biggest laugh from me is “Oh, Fudge.” Mainly, though, it’s when they get home and Ralph says he heard the word from Schwartz, prompting his mother to call Mrs. Schwartz, who then proceeds to spank the shit out of her son, who, you can only imagine, was completely taken by surprise. And the

I was once on BART reading a book when a woman decided to listen to music on her phone without headphones. Obviously this disrupted my reading, and some people near her were forced to stop their conversation. This had happened to me before, but I never confronted anyone about because I’m scared to death of getting

And since it’s a story told on a cosmic scale, it would’ve required special effects that would’ve been unheard of in the late ’80s. Quick: Try to imagine how the ’80s-movie version of Watchmen might’ve looked. It’s beyond comprehension.

Where to start? As we’ve seen with most attempts to bring back old IP (Fuller House, Ren and Stimpy, Beavis and Butthead, just to name a few), the results are not the same, as it ends up being an inferior product from the original. Second, the creation of Liquid Television was not mindless pandering (your words, not

So this isn’t the long-awaited Vonnegut bio?

In 2006 I found Aeon Flux season one on DVD at Rasputin in Berkeley, but it was encased in a glass display, along with an original Revolver pressing and some other collectibles. The DVD went for $175 and was very hard to find at the time. I ended up buying it, and while I was watching it that night, I remember wishing

There is a flower within my heart

“For well you know that it’s a fool who plays it cool by making his world a little colder.”

I love the Zouk’s, but he’s got to change up his look if he’s going to be starring in movies. There’s no better way to become old hat and thus irrelevant than by bringing the exact same character to every project. Or maybe people actually love seeing the thing they recognize, just in different settings.

Contains mild *SPOILERS*

This is why you need showrunners/creators with veto power who will put an end to the show before it inevitably starts to dip in quality. Seinfeld did it right!

Wow, the Spawn soundtrack. Have not thought of that in years! I bought it because Korn was on the lineup (hey, I was twelve) but ended up losing interest because it was too electronic for my tastes.

What a terrible ending! After watching Mike Flanagan’s other project for Netflix, Gerald’s Game, it’s clear that endings are not his strong suit.

This aesthetic would go on to be co-opted decades later by Tim Burton, becoming a hallmark of nearly all of his early films (AKA his good films).

This is absolutely true. I’ve seen it with a few older colleagues; but even my own mother scoffs at my take on politics and foreign affairs because I have a PhD in international relations. Yes, you read that right. Mother - my mother - inundates herself with info wars and conspiracy theory websites, all of which

The very first scare in this movie is a dying-person-thought-to-be-dead jump scare, complete with a totally unnecessary and super loud noise. My friends and I knew exactly what we were in for from there.

They’re coming to get you, Barbara...
