I’ve also heard of a system where you make an envelope for all of the monthly payment you have, ie. Gasoline, subscriptions, mortgage/rent, entertainment, etc. then you put the amount of cash budgeted in each envelope. As you have those expenses each month you use only that envelope for that budget item.

When you have cash it is very easy to feel that fear of not having enough.When it’s gone... it’s gone. Using the card allows for a safety net which is easy to justify more spending because you could always pay it off later until later catches up with you and you’re in serious debt. Colt Martinez
