I think people are severely underestimating the rapid pace of technology. Things that we see as commonplace were not even a hint of dream in 1998.

If anything, this last year has only proven that self-driving cars won’t be viable on a massive scale for decades.
I have no need for this, so I’m glad it’s not closer to me. Presuming no hidden gremlins or boogers, it’s NP all day long and cheap enough to be a spare car in the fleet.
That mileage crosses a threshold. At 276k, it’s no worse than if it had 176k. Sure, some things are likely due for replacement, but a lot of things have undoubtedly already been replaced (and parts are cheap).
“... until it finally self-destructs." You should live so long. Trucks like this clatter along for decades, apparently thriving on neglect and coming back for more.
A conservative judge would be more inclined to go with the stand-your-ground view and call it rightful defense of property, I would have thought
The modern equivalent of a ‘92 1500 is a 4 cylinder Colorado. After some quck research, a ‘92 c1500 was rated at 18mpg combined. The 4 cyl colorado is as big, more powerful and more comfortable and is rated at 22mpg combined
BUY A DEER AND RIDE IT AS A SHOW OF DOMINANCE TO OTHER DEER
GM should build the cars where it makes economic and logistical sense.
SUV doesn’t equal massive. The most popular SUVs right now are crossovers in the compact and small size class with fuel economy at or near 30 mpg.
“Why should we give you this bailout if you cannot run your company efficiently?”

She grew up in a GM family. She’s a GM lifer herself starting out at GM University (now Kettering) in Flint. I still stand by…
Please. They aren’t stupid. Heck, most of them are former business executives. They know full well why this is happening. What they are doing is playing the game of politics, which involves making a public show for your constituents.
Auto manufacturing plants (like most other manufacturing plants in any industry) have to utilized at a certain volume of units to be profitable.
GM:
Wait, what kind of car did you have? A Saab had sex with a Subaru and that was it’s offspring?
1st Gear:
I don’t hate it. That dead on front veiw is godawful. But the front and rear 3/4 shots show balance and decent proportions. It’s modern, but it’s not over the top with cheez.
Personal opinion: The front view looks so ridiculous because someone needed to use a camera with a longer focal length. The 3/4 view shows that while the grill is large, it’s not so comically large as the front view suggests.
