…because he's discussing its drawbacks. You know……discussing.

He's not trolling; he's disagreeing. Those two concepts aren't inexorably the same.

Season 2 is a shambolic mess so far and gives Sam Heughan, a clever actor, very little to do beyond exposition. Shame. My Sam fantasies are being horribly tarnished.

But Book Claire is not clever and quick thinking and certainly not as clever as her husband. She's rather stolid, intellectually, at least.

Agreed. A complete version of female leadership would be wonderful.

…or Sam taking off his shirt.

It's not how much or little she does, but how little leadership she demonstrates that's the problem.

She's just not a strong enough heroine for the show to be so much about her. She's tiresome and whiny. Can you imagine a tough, compasionate and capable, say, bank executive behaving like Claire? Ludicrous.

Yep. Discombobulated mess.

Agreed. Sam Heughan is a very well trained actor and, in Season 2, is given very little to do. Poor Jamie seems to require little more than the occasional “Och, aye” accompanied by a bit of eyebrow acting and tense looking around and the disconcerting General Patton-style “All real Americans love the sting and clash

You may be over thinking this a bit. Frankly, what sane woman wouldn't leave any kind of 20th century convenience for that much hot sex and warrior-like erudition, those pecs and biceps and that much chivalric equality?

Why is there so much sobbing in Scotland? I feel so sorry for Catriona Balfe. Her range of acting is limited by the character to sobbing, expositioning in a self-righteous or indignant manner, sobbing, scolding, sobbing, scowling or shooting off her mouth such that everyone is put in danger.

….or needs to take off his shirt. That scene where he volunteered to be whipped to show his outstanding leadership qualities was just an excuse for all his panting female followers to see how Sam's pecs are coming along.

I completely agree - hamfisted and obvious. Moore can't help himself.

…or even more whiny and tiresome. This woman has not stopped scowling, scolding and sobbing since the witch trial. She's the ultimate buzzkill.
