Truth. I appropriated last year’s Father’s Day giveaway (Orioles fedora) because it was awesome and my dad doesn’t do hats. No home game on Father’s Day this year though...to the Aberdeen single-A game (and third base crab deck) it is!

My general rule of thumb for technology is don’t bring it unless it’s strictly necessary. Smart watches aren’t all that conspicuous unless you’re staring at it the whole time. For me, flashy means things like big-ass watches, designer logo purses/clothes, etc. My guiding principle for all travel: understated and

I lucked into this. I’ve been at a small company for my first 3 years in the working world and it’s been great. Management is hands on, I’ve learned a lot, I’ve gotten exposure to new types of projects easily (rather than be pigeon-holed), and I’ve gotten more responsibility faster than friends in larger companies.

I read the first book, but lost interest after. Just not my cup of tea. That being said, I don't think DG was intending the book(s) to be bastions of modern feminism. It's historical fiction first and foremost, romance stuff second. Historically, women were treated like shit (especially by their husbands) and the

Ditto. Once I saw the electronic parking brake, it was a whole lot of NOPE. That is the absolutely one thing that I can not handle being electronic. I had my car's main computer fail while on the highway and the mechanical parking brake kept my car in place while waiting for the tow. I don't have many hard and fast

The extensions version of this (green tube) is amazing. Zero clumps, zero spider eyes and length just this side of falsies without the nonsense of falsies.

That title picture is everything. #raptorisnotimpressed

As an engineer who as spent a lot of time in the field, I still get side-eye occasionally from my *female* VP when I say can handle a certain aspect of a project and only need a tech to conform with company policy (2-man teams in the field, period). I know the guys who are less experienced don’t get the push back I

If you're *at all* inclined to be crafty, I suggest getting a plain pair of Keds/Toms in your choice of color and decorating them to your heart's content. A friend mod podged Star Wars scenes onto a pair of Keds for her wedding shoes. Granted, nerd wedding so the groom's cufflinks were the "I love you"/"I know" ones

I think the key there is that people didn't get information. When I got rear ended (no injuries, car damaged but driveable) first thing I did was take a picture of the guy's license plate so that way if he did run (which he didn't) I'd have a plate to report to the cops/insurance company. Neither of us thought about

Best of the "sweet" category right here.

I have a "no discretionary spending during the week" rule which works in a similar way. That way, if something grabs my attention during the week, waiting until the weekend to pull the trigger forces me to really chew over it. Obviously, gas and necessary groceries don't fall into this category, but it does make me

My best day in Paris was when I got frustrated with the fact that the downloaded Google Maps wasn’t giving me enough detail and I just started heading towards Sacre d’Cour. Spent the better part of 10 hours wandering through central Paris and by the time it was time to catch the train back to London, I had enough of a

Jeez, up until now I avoided South Asian sourced seafood because I knew that the US got whatever the EU, Canada, and Australia rejected. I avoided Darden restaurants because they seemed like soul less shit houses.

Very true. When I'm teaching an intern/new employee about some aspect of our work, they have a propensity to ask "Why?" and this forces me to think about why and how I do what I do, resulting in a) a deeper understanding of the information/process for both of us and b) a more efficient process in the long run.

IIRC, though, the coupons are only good in-store.

Hmm. I'm still taking the generic version (just got a new prescription actually from the gyno) and no one has mentioned it going off the market (in the US anyway). I've heard good things about IUDs too.

Seriously, re-evaluate which pill you're using. I had debilitating cramps for about 3 days a month (couldn't even get out of bed most of the time) and then Yaz took all of that away AND my acne as a bonus gift. The pill should definitely not be making things worse.

It wasn't a private therapist, it was a school employed one. That's why FERPA applies in the first place. If it was a private therapist, then the university would have to request/subpoena the documents in discovery and the student would have the right to challenge the subpoena.

Well that right there seems to validate the "inadequate care" claim. Though as previously stated, the university has the legal right to defend itself against those claims. It's just morally shitty that they can use FERPA to make an end run around the normal discovery process.
