I have an original Intel iMac and the 2 GB RAM limit is my main issue with the machine. Display is fine and speed, too. But working with Aperture or even occasional video editing is a pain. Also the 64bit-only stuff will not work.

I have a real bad feeling about the future of thunderbolt. Which is sad, because I think it could be a great port if it became widely adopted. I don't think the firewire analogy is too far-fetched here. sigh.

I'd imagine that in my scenario Apple would have a tight control over "hardware and software experience". The GUI would be streamlined and other design guidelines issued (i.e. remotes).

I never use much data on my 3G plan except when tethering. Also speed was never an issue on my mobile devices.
