There’s a special appeal to these things that I can’t quite put my finger on.
I saw this one for sale and bought it despite having no reason to, and now I feel compelled to preserve it. The glass headlight covers are awesome, they keep her looking fresh.

We almost did that as well, probably just should have. Instead we dropped it off somewhere (I think Firestone) whose price was within $1 fully installed.
Had a similar issue with my friends Mini. They wouldn’t replace it because it was under a cover.
I agree with you, though I do believe the efficiency of the individual vehicle is secondary to how much it is driven and with how many passengers.
I wouldn’t (and don’t) daily an SUV, but I can’t say I’d fault someone for purchasing what is arguably the most flexible, utilitarian format of the automobile as their only car. Climate guilt aside.

Georgia here, specifically Atlanta. A/C is cherished, haha. I’m sure it’s much less of a problem in a more northern climate.
