That Clint Mansell score is haunting (as his tend to be).

I love Upstream Color. I’d put it in the Eternal Sunshine category of its central conceit and plot tools are definitely sci-fi (i.e. technology / science that doesn’t exist drives the narrative) but UC uses it to set up a story about relationships and memory. It’s a much more poetic and accessible movie than Primer,

I do love the production design of this movie. While certain dystopian movies are deliberately chasing a cold and bleak aesthetic, I appreciate how Her. embraced the notion that we slowly integrate our technology into our lives. The rate at which phones and everything are becoming powerful is definitely staggering,

Ah I haven’t caught End of Watch - that’s one I keep hearing good things about but I always assume is terrible.

Gyllenhaal, to me, was always a technically strong actor. As a kid you could see him hitting the notes and the gestures correctly, precociously, if not with great dramatic effect. He was like a tennis prodigy who has the whole arsenal but not the creativity or instincts of a really exciting player.

I say as much above that I hope I’m wrong and it’s a superficial observation about someone I’m obviously not personally familiar with.

Huh?

I’ll do that, and I hope I am surprised. I usually try and refrain from knee-jerk assumptions about people, but something about him - probably his hair - just irks the hell out of me.

More because he seems like exactly the type of excitable frat-bro meathead that makes Bryce Harper look like Wittgenstein.

Brian McCann was out in Napa a few years ago and his straight-up sprouted off the vine!

Josh Donaldson is good at baseball and I’m pretty sure I’d never want to have a conversation with or be around him.

With that top knot he straight up looks like Hellboy. It’s bugged for a long-ass time who he reminded me of, and that’s definitely it.

Was there more to the interview? All I got was 00:29 of Ed Harris slurring about liking rehearsing.

That was a pretty solid burn by Poehler and Fey at the Golden Globes.

Legion was such a pleasant surprise this year, here’s hoping S2 will maintain the high level of quality.

Seven Psychopaths was a miss for me but I loved In Bruges and I at least get the sense with him t hat, coming in to film as a playwright, he’s always going to be primarily focused on plot and characterization, so I can’t imagine I’ll stop giving his output a chance any time soon.

Do we know what Dinklage’s character is up to?

I’m with you. As a Federer fan I never want the man to lose a match - especially a grand slam since age and all other factors considered he’s probably got a slim window within which to add a couple more -but I’m also anxious for the next generation. Regular, deep runs by the brothers Zverev and Kyrgios and Thiem

I’ll admit to being pretty unfamiliar with the genuine grindhouse movies, so I’ll have to take your word for it. But in terms of production cost I can certainly see how it’d be mostly chatter and one, maybe two, big moments.

Per an article on Slashfilm, I found this:
