Some are meant to die, forget the dream, and awaken under the morning sun. You’ll think it all a bad dream.

Yeah, I think the problem is that there are employers that will treat it as such, and prospective employees who will believe that treatment is appropriate.
I’ve definitely heard of studios trying to verify crediting listed on resumes (never happened with me, but I have had people pick a handful of titles out and ask what capacity I worked on it in—could see that happening with or without a credit check, but it’s effectively the same either way).
Sort of shocked to see that what was presented as an industry standard to me for crediting (4 weeks or 10% of development time, whatever is shorter) when I worked in games is so often inaccurate for other locations. This is definitely a hard rule that should be normalized across the industry.
Ha ha ha. 1000 hours over 7 years. I certainly didn’t have 1000 hours in D1 alone, despite barely playing in the final year...
Me and that gun killed Oryx a whole bunch of times. Add it to the pile of things in this season that almost make me want to try to pick up Destiny again (a pile which is constantly outweighed by little things like “work” and “a three-year-old”).
I’ve been trying to figure out a way to declutter my home office, which doubles as a guest bedroom. We’ve tossed around the idea of a murphy bed, but any good ones seems prohibitively expensive. Instead I think I’m going to try and build a murphy desk. Mount a big slab of butcher block on some hinges on the wall with…
Thanks, I hate it!
But I deeply appreciate the permanent link to the old style!
That it does. Sword Saint is probably my favorite boss From has put out, but whew was it an effort to git gud at it!
Yeah, I think that’s why I don’t really like it. It changed the fundamental flow of the game’s combat, and not in a good way, by making it a Bloodborne boss without Bloodborne’s mechanics. Kind of a low spot in boss design and a game that otherwise knocks it out of the park.
Spiders are ecologically fantastic, but they are also horrifying in all manners. So, seems like a win/win to let people avoid stoking their fears with giant spiders if they’re particularly susceptible. I’ve had to develop a coexisting relationship with them because my house is in a little grove of old cedar and fir…
Awesome. Love me some fashion souls. And of course, I can’t wait to tear my hair out trying to beat both Isshin and Demon of Hatred consecutively.
Just popping in here to say that, to my knowledge, Destiny 2's credits haven’t been updated since the original release. Which means that everyone who helped develop any of the DLC, Forsaken, and Shadowkeep have gone uncredited. That’s basically the majority of the game at this point.
Several literal garbage monsters though!
Oh you’re right! Otz was the first, and I may be mistaking Gino for being the next to make the Trilogy run (or some other very impressive thing). All these guys are crazy, but I love watching them.
Very cool to see the work these guys put in getting some discussion. Love seeing dedicated and creative players getting recognition.
All of Destiny is online to some degree (you’re always on shared servers, you’ll see other players in public spaces and public zones in the world). You can complete the story missions without directly playing with others, and you’re never required to play PvP at all. But, a lot of the game’s content, Strikes in…
It is nice to see more disciplines getting recognition. The “Dev Team” should ideally include developers, designers, artists, QA/Test, researchers, PMs and producers, engineers, etc. It’s silly to not include all of them because of how most teams operate now. They all take part in the development process.
As a researcher that worked in video games for four years, both in a studio and publisher setting, it’s really heartening to see any sort of change made for these folks. I worked with pretty good organizations that always had at least some full-time test staff (for example, one studio I worked in had about 1/5 of the…
I have this thermometer (and two thermopops). It’s (they’re) great! And I’m saying this as someone who has been told they make the best pork shoulder and smoked bologna in the greater Seattle area* (on an Akorn kamado smoker).
