I wouldnt call lesbians a triumph, brave, different or innovative in any way. The worlds pop culture is currently in...an exploratory phase with homosexuality and has been since the 90s. And he giggled like a maniac during the mini Stay Puft…
The movie also held well from its Friday take through Sunday, besting not only industry projections, but Sony’s internal ones as well. Word of mouth would have muted that, but it feels like people *do* like it (it got an ovation from my Friday screening).
Sometimes the public just wants mcdonalds and not experimental fusion.
AV Club seems to be pushing the narrative that nobody liked Ghostbusters or Cowboy Bebop this weekend, but that just doesn’t line up with my own experience.
Am I out of touch because kids don’t want to see a historical epic based on an obscure French incident set against the backdrop of Charles VI and the Caroline War?
