I think JRPGs are hard to justify playing over the age of, oh, 23 at the oldest? They don’t respect your time at all and they’re all composed of the same tropes. A hard sell if you’re not already a fan of the genre.

Sonic Original Trilogy, S & K, Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Heroes, Sonic Advance Trilogy, Shadow the edgehog (gameplay wise), Sonic Rush, Rush Adventure, Sonic Unleashed (day stage wise), Sonic Colors, Sonic Generations...all of these range from decent to amazing, you just obviously never played them.

Yeah, I remember the official Sonic channels pretty much said “This is cool and we’re not Nintendo” in response to fan games. God bless them.

Sega doesn’t really do that. On the contrary, they hire fan developers.

Sega’s been cool with fan projects in the past, so I think this is safe unless Nintendo’s influence has increased.

Everyone has a different opinion, but I really enjoyed both. I platinumed all 3 games FWIW. This looks like just such a fun, little magical adventure and maybe that’s why I’m so excited for it. No one dying horribly, no stress, no adult-like high stakes...just a magical world of stacking cute creatures on top of eachother.

Real talk: I skipped XIII-2 and Lightning Returns. Good move or bad move? I liked the battle system of XIII, and didn’t mind that much how linear it was.
