I agree 100%. I was just making the point that a $12/night drag strip is a way to get a cheap speed fix as opposed to street racing. I've got a C5 Z06 so either can be fun but I agree with your order. A Mini and a Vette are much more fun on the roadcourse.

Thats crazy high if its an HPDE, unless it includes insurance. Check out different HPDE organizers. My friends' shop teamed up with Hooked On Driving and the cost was reasonable. I have found that you can usually find a good instructor for a ride along - even one familiar with your car. If you can find an owners

That $12 was just to drag race at Atco on open street nights. A road course HPDE is still going to run you around $250 a day (w/o insurance - double with). Thats about what I remember paying at both Pocono and NJMP. Its been a while since I autocrossed but I don't rememebr them being that expensive. Always wanted

Last I went, it was $12 to drag race at Atco. Its been at least 6 years but I'm thinking it hasn't increased much.

Your's rests?

And Patrick wipe that condescending look off your avatar. Keeps making me think I said/typed something stupid. Then again...

Thats what dragstrips, autox, and HPDEs are for. You want to test your skill? DOn't endanger others just trying to go about their day.

Stock and in nice condition, you could buy this car for $20k. In the C5 world, the Maggie falls near the bottom. A nice centri kit can be had installed for under $8k, and everyone knows you never get back what you put in it. Not sure where the other $7k comes from. Must be the nice Loyds floor mats or maybe he's

For some reason I really dig these flow charts. This is the second one that (almost) pegged me. Got all the way down to a Yukon, but I have a Tahoe. I guess I need to be emulating/cruising like more government officials to be accurate.

Checking enthusiast forums is great advice. You can find out everything about the car from those members - from realisitc pricing to common issues to look for and how much they cost to fix. You can also get recommendations for shops to do a 3rd party inspection.

Absolutely. Its business, not personal. You are not there to make friends.

Just did it for my bro on Monday. 1. Look up wholesale price. I like Galves - KBB, and Edmounds are not as accurate. If certified, find out how much that process costs. Ask for service sheet for work done to meet certification. 2. Look at sales prices of similar vehicles at other dealers. 3. As other said, don't

I agree. I'm on my 4th Vette and it was the first thing I had tuned out. Matter of fact I don't think I know a single Vette owner that hasn't had it tuned out.

Matt Houston (and Riptide for that matter) where great shows. Matt had one problem, if I recall: he occupied the same time slot as Miami Vice. Game, set, match...cancellation.

Believe it or not about a year ago I saw a Wrangler that someone lowered.

Jeep Wrangler. In a world where all SUVs are migrating towards soccer-mom freindly unibody construction, its still one of the most capable offroading machines available. And how many actually make in off the pavement?

You forgot the "Eddie Would Go" bumper stickers. But thats a good call on the Japanese small pickups.

Ha ha. Same in Philly. Just saw a news report last night complaining about the same thing.

In South Jersey, in the 80's this was the car. Though to complete the image you were also required to wear your Chams Shirt (the Affilction shirt d-bag precursor), parachute pants, a gold chain, and your hockey player-styled mullet. And don't forget the Oakley sticker and double blade wiper blades.
