Apparently Phasma has a much bigger role in the next movie. Poe was originally supposed to die in the first act, but since they switched to keeping him alive, and he’s so popular, I reckon he’ll have a much bigger role in the next one.

I counted two besides Phasma, and several officers as well.
My friend’s 9 year old daughter came up with an interesting idea that I don’t think I’ve heard anybody else suggest. What if Rey is not a Skywalker but a Kenobi? She does after all have an English accent, and she hears Kenobi’s voice in her vision, not Lukes. That blew my mind slightly.
almost entirely
Odd, considering she’s never met Rey at that point.
Why didn’t Leia go there herself? Turns out, she and the New Republic are not the biggest fans of each other. While the Republic secretly supports the Resistance, it publicly denounces the organization, and its relationship with General Organa has gone rather sour.
Maybe something to boost DVD/Blu-Ray sales?
I agree. Although perfectly reasonable in its origin. It’s used in a toxic fashion sometimes currently, but maybe we should just rise above it.
She translated Chewy a couple of times for Finn, and basicaly talks to him all the way through the movie (indluding their first scene). It goes by entirely unremarked, so it’s easy to miss, and of course Han does it all the time, so...
hahah yes, again I don’t disgree with you about mis-use. But just because people on the internet get things wrong isn’t a reason to get rid of it. If we did that, we’d have nothing to talk about.
I know that’s EU stuff, but are Jedi allowed to even marry in-canon? I thought it must drain their force juices, so to speak.
The Force lets you understand any known biological language? I can imagine that maybe it’s some sort of telepathy (ignoring the idea that language shapes thought to such a degree that it seems unlikely there’s some universal language of the mind that telepathy could grok), but if so, that’s a big leap for something…
She also seems to speak at least three languages in addition to standard, despite there being no way she ever met a Wookie before.
Also, Rey is clearly smarter than Luke. Luke was a bit of a doofus.
Ah look, I don’t disagree with your overall position, honestly, but:
No. No. She was in a British sitcom (see Catastrophe Seasons 1 & 2) and she looked exactly the same.
Yeah, Republic planets all hanging in close orbit together...wtf?
I wonder who would have been flying the x-wing at the end in that case...
You are correct. The new score is bland, aimless, lacks flavour and coherance. The only stand-out bits are the old themes. Such a shame. The Prequel scores weren’t that great, but at least each score had a few tasty themese and a stand-out track or two. This one had very little.
My only issue with Rey’s competencies is that she speaks Wookie. The backstory for Wookies is that you never see them, because the Wookie homeworld was a slave planet of the Empire (and presumably now of the First Order). Where the hell did she learn Wookie? Understanding BB8-speak was a stretch too, but I guess she…
