FSM > Haynes or Chilton, but physical copies are pretty important. I didn’t have access to my digital FSM last time I had a major issue 50 miles from anyone in the most remote place in the lower 48 in the winter. Glad I had something to reference in my Haynes that I can throw in a box.  I now keep digital copies of

Great, they’ll be going to a full subscription model, making sure that you pay many times the price of a print manual if you want to refer to the on-line version over several years. Another checkbox filled in the “you don’t own it, you license it” method of rent seeking.

I use a filthy keyboard and mouse with my laptop. While there are tradeoffs, I do prefer the searchability of a digital format.

Sure a phone is good for quick stuff, but when my hands get disgusting and I spend all day on the car I would 100% rather have a paper book to turn through. My phone’s battery is shit and pulling it out when working on a car over a long period of time is a recipe for the phone to get nasty and probably dropped. I

I have never seen a vehicle look bad in medium to dark green. BRG is the Correct Color for any vehicle, but forest is right up there.

Dark green = best color.

I had a forest green over tan Mazda about 7 years ago. It was easily the best looking color combination of any car I’ve ever owned. My current black over more black car does look pretty sharp IMO, but it just doesn’t have the same warmth to it.

That IS a nice tow rig, and an even more fun race car. (B-Spec forever!) All of the dark forest greens need to make a comeback on exteriors.

Man attempts to live on electric vehicles during a national pandemic!”

You have all those vehicles and live in an APARTMENT???? Do you take up half of all the available parking spaces?

Literally a wrenching hack - and has come in handy many times since I’ve learned it.

Didn’t CA set their own standards back in the 70-80s? I remember cars being advertised to meet CA’s emissions standards

What the actual fuck? I mean... I have to go through the hassle of negotiating just to find out whether or not I actually like the car?

I understand not wanting to contaminate the car, but you’re on the opposite pole of crazy here. There’s not a chance in hell I’d ever agree numbers on something I haven’t driven and nor should anyone else. My contaminating it is easily mitigated: spray it with Lysol when I’m done and air it out for a couple hours.

they don’t need to screw with you over prices when they are bending the insurance company over

counterpoint: I’m not going to talk numbers before I even know if I like the car.

That wouldn’t work with me... I’m not running numbers and agreeing on a vehicle before I play with it, drive it, and see if I want it...

Probably a more specific, Jalopnik centered, sense of community? It’s existed all this time with Reddit also existing so people found something good about it.

I can attest to how rare the Passat W8 is in the real world. When I was 16 years old, I was riding my bike, and a Volkswagen Passat W8 made a right turn on red — when I had the right of way. I hit the hood, the roof, and then the pavement.

Hopefully the stripper models won’t be a pain to find. I hate when they use the base model price for advertising, and then make almost none of them as they push you to add more equipment.
